Man and Van FAQs

  • We are more than happy to price up an office clearance job on arrival. Our truck teams will ask to view all the items you want removed, and they will explain how much of a load it will fill.

We do this as standard, even when our office has given an estimate for the waste collection. Being a “pay as you fill” model, means you ONLY pay for the amount we remove.

We are more than happy to move on without any charge if you don’t accept the price we give for the office clearance.

  • Yes we can. Our wheelie bin service compliments our waste collection service. Some clients require 20 wheelie bins for 6-8 weeks, and some require 5 bins for 6 months. Our flexibility means we can tailor the perfect service for the client and site.

  • Assess what items you need to have removed:
A recycling collection for a single item could be arranged on the same day, but a building full of old furniture for recycling & disposal may take a few days or weeks to arrange. Clear photos and a list of items for disposal always help.

Get an estimate from a professional Waste Clearance company:
If you’re looking online for rubbish removal specialists, try to also speak on the phone to them. If you’re happy with their customer team when you call them, this can filter out less professional outfits that just have a good website.

Give yourself some time to get organised:
If you are able to have a few days to prepare, this can be easier than trying to arrange a collection within a few stressful hours. Having said that, we are able to provide same day collections, but often clients prefer to take time to clarify what rubbish to clear and what should stay.

If you need a clear arrival window, make sure your collection company does so. (for example, we give 2 hr windows and also ETA’s via text / whatsapp).

Ask for before and after photographs. These are useful to see work done and items collected.

When possible only pay once the job has been completed.

    TIPS:

Use a proper clearance company with a Waste carriers License, & proper recycling channels office clearances in London tend to include old furniture for recycling, but you can arrange recycling and disposal for any unwanted office items.

Be as clear as you can about the list of items for removal when asking for an estimate.

Send photo’s of the office rubbish if you can to ensure the Waste Collection company can be properly prepared.

Make sure you will receive a Waste Transfer Note (WTN) for the collection

If any monitors / fridges / flouro bulbs are inlcuded, ensure a Haz Waste Note is provided.

We work with Project managers and Site managers all over London, providing

We often work alongside our clients existing skip hire contractors, removing bulky waste whilst skips take the heaviest waste to ensure the most efficient cost and waste management. • I need a house clearance – Where do I start?

These are our top “How to arrange a house clearance” tips. By nature house clearances are stressful. This is because they often occur during a house move, or after a family bereavement. Even when just between lettings, they often have the potential to cause stress.

    Step 1

Assess what you need to clear away: Try to clarify what household items you want to keep, and what household items you want removed / recycled.

If some items are going to be kept or moved to a new property, the best option is to get them moved first. If that’s not possible, then clearly label them. you can also keep one room for “stuff we are keeping” and one room for “stuff for recycling / disposal.

    Step 2

Choose a reputable house clearance service. Most How to guides will advise to “make sure the company you choose has a Waste Carriers License”. We advise this too, but it doesn’t mean that they are necessarily ethical, reputable, or following best practice. Search online and /or ask friends and family for recommendations.  Google reviews are very helpful to see whether a company can consistently deliver good service. A good company will check parking restrictions, and send you a confirmation of your booking.

    Step 3

Don’t pay the full cost up front unless you are absolutely sure they are trustworthy. Most house clearance quotes are estimated, so can’t be confirmed until a team views them on site. A good company should have a “pay as you fill” cost structure, so that after the job is done, if there was less waste, then estimated they should charge less.

    Step 4

If you can’t be on site, ask if you can get good before and after pictures. Most good waste collectors will sweep up after themselves. They won’t provide a full clean, but they should leave the site swept or tidy.

    Things to watch out for

    • If one company offers MUCH lower price than others, be cautious. Getting rid of waste legitimately is always expensive. Some unscrupulous carriers find ways of disposing of waste cheaper – from fly tipping or burying it, and even shipping it to third world countries.
    • Gut feel – does the waste company have a decent website, and do you get a good feeling  when you speak to them on the phone. We would always advise customers to choose companies that are pleasant and polite!
    • If the waste company throws hazardous waste into their truck mixing it with general waste, then they likely don’t care about ensuring hazardous material is safely recycled.
